Flying Away reached No.41 in the UK pop charts in February 1999. It was recorded by Australian singer Teri Chong, with the accompaniment of the legendary Jock Phillips Orchestra. The tune was written by Pierre Fork, originally as a vehicle for his wife, Marie-Claire. Michael Macintyre was particularly disappointed that it failed to break into the Hot 40, claiming it was 'a rock classic for our time'. Glib Magazine's review called it: 'Probably the best theme tune to a soap about air traffic controllers that there has ever been'. I don't think they were being serious though (as usual). |
